Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth Olsen (a.k.a Lizzie Holsen), the third Olsen sister, is emerging as the new Hollywood It Girl according to a recent Nylon magazine interview. What sets her apart from her business-savvy, television-star sisters, is her love of, and early involvement in, theatre. An actor who comes from a theatre background is going to have a broader frame of reference, and overall be better, than one who does not.
Olsen recently appeared in two Sundance movies, Silent house and Martha Marcy May Marlene, which was reviewed in Friday’s edition. What I like the most about her is the elegant and mildly ingenue gaze that she fixes on people and things. About her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene she has said, “I was obsessed. I thought, this is the kind of part I want to play when I’m older. With Martha I could do all the things I want to do later, but now.”
Here’s a clip of Olsen being interviewed for Killer/Hope at the last Sundance Film Festival, with Christine Vachon and Ted Hope (I forgive you if the word “jury” took you by surprise, Lizzie)
