When you announce your own sequel in character, might as well do it in style. The totally-unknown-in-France Will Ferrell showed up on Conan on Thursday night dressed up in his anchorman suit (it’s burgundy-colored, the 1986 vintage) and playing the flute (I think he thought he was Clarence Clemons doing a saxophone solo).

Ferrell announced loud and clear that Anchorman would be made into a sequel: “I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas,” he told the audience. “To my friends, in Spain, Turkey and the U.K., including England … as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for ‘Anchorman.’ It is official, there will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman.’ ”

The Paramount Pictures-produced sequel will be called Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy.
