A brief mention about Juliette Binoche’s response to the BBC today seems in order. She is currently in London promoting “Copie Conforme” and was asked about actor Gérard Depardieu’s inexplicable verbal attack on her. She told the interviewer, ‘you don’t have to like everyone or their work, but I don’t understand the violence of his words.’ The best response, perhaps, would have been to pass on the question altogether, or employ Gallic cynicism. Presumably, however, this strange argument will go no further.
