Directors’ Fortnight poster UNVEILED

Directors’ Fortnight (la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs), under the auspices of the French Directors Guild, is among the more vital alternative programming taking place during the Cannes Festival. Today they’ve released the 2012 poster (produced by Michael Welfringer).

The girl standing in an unconventional office space (we’re guessing it belongs to some pioneering earth explorer who owns a couple IKEA stores) that’s been turned upside-down helps draw attention to the program’s mission: a selection of films that’s as wide-ranging as it is eclectic, advocated for in a non-competitive spirit.

Or not.

Visit the Directors’ Fortnight site, there’s a lot of archival material on past films.

(pictured above, Diane Kruger leading the press conference for 2010’s Pieds Nus sur les Limaces, which she c0-directed along with Fabienne Berthaud).

DEAR GOD! I could do a better poster!! UNbelievable! They just don’t care at all anymore. What a pity.

Why does this chick remind me of Paris Hilton? So now we have the festival proper and the Quinzaine with blondes on the poster. ;- )
